SURGERY DEPARTMENT
This is one of the core clinical departments in the hospital and consists of:
- Accident and Emergency Services
- General Surgery (2 units – Teams A & B)
- Orthopaedics Surgery
- Urology
- Paediatric Surgery
- Plastic Surgery
- Cardiothoracic and vascular Surgery
- Neuro Surgery (visiting)
MODE OF OPERATION
The department of surgery at present has 8 Units – Each Unit is headed by a Consultant who coordinates the unit’s clinical, training and research activities. Each unit has a complement of Residents and Interns staff.
Each Unit Operates Through These Points:
- Specialist Outpatient Clinics once a week 8:00am – 1:00pm
1:00pm – 5:00pm
- Consultant Ward Rounds At least once a week From 9 & 10 a. m
- Elective Operation Sessions At least once a week From 8:00am
- Residents’ Ward Rounds Every day of the week 3 or more hours (morning)
