FEDERAL MEDICAL CENTRE, BIDA VISITS IDP CAMP

The Medical Director Dr. Abubakar Usman, Federal Medical Centre, Bida led Management Team and other Health Professionals to the Internally Displaced Persons camp in Kutigi, Lavun Local Government.
The visit was aimed at giving the internally displaced persons who were victims of the activities of Bandit in the region a succor “as a responsible organization giving back to the society as supporting and caring for victims is our priority”.
The gesture he said is aimed at alleviating the suffering of the IDPs as well as reciprocating existing cordial relationship between the Centre, and the host community in Niger State and its environs.
Speaking also at the event was Dr. Dirisu E. Mary a Community Health Physician, she enjoined the IDPs to Carter for themselves at this challenging time to forestall any outbreak of diseases in the camp. She spoke on personal hygiene and other relevant issues.
Dr. Grace Ahmed who is a Paediatrician also advised the mothers at the camp to take proper care of their children as they are more vulnerable to different ailment in the situation they found themselves, therefore they need special care in this environment that they are not used to.
The camp which is a Primary School became a temporary home for more than 1,500 IDPs and the hospital was able to provide health care services ranging from consultation, investigation and also provided necessary drugs to more than 450 displaced persons who were present with different types of ailment.
The Medical Director, Dr. Abubakar Usman then presented other items brought by the hospital to the Division Secretary of the Red Cross who is in charge of the camp. Among the relieve materials worth more than One Million Naira includes, food stuffs, blankets, mosquito nets, buckets, liquid antiseptic, antiseptic soap, drugs and others.
Some of the victims expressed their sincere gratitude to the Hospital Management and pray for a stop to the ugly menace all over the Country.
